Since 3 June, the Département de la Seine-Saint-Denis and the town of Neuilly-sur-Marne have been carrying out major works at the Pont des Trois Communes traffic-light junction. The work will last around two months, to improve safety for road users.
The purpose of fitting a junction with a traffic light signal is to eliminate certain traffic conflicts between users. This conflict management requires compliance with a number of design and dimensioning rules.
???? The Department of Seine-Saint-Denis is financing the renovation of the Pont des Trois Communes junction by four phases. Objectives : renovate traffic light signalling equipment and making pedestrian crossings safer.
From 3 to 14 June: reduction in eastbound traffic lanes
- The blocks with mouths on Avenue Robert Schumann will be demolished.
- Instead of the original 3 lanes, traffic will be reduced to 1 lane in each direction.
- Traffic will be maintained in both directions, with a pinch in the south-east and south-north directions, the aim being to avoid bringing traffic to a standstill.
From 17 to 28 June: renovation of the cables on the west side
- The traffic light cables will be renovated, pulled and then buried on the west side of the junction.
- Instead of the original 3 lanes, traffic will also be reduced to 1 lane in each direction.
- Traffic will alternate to the south of avenue Robert Schumann to create a pedestrian crossing.
From 1 to 5 July: renovation of pedestrian crossings
- The pedestrian crossings at the junction will be renovated and the remaining cables buried.
- Instead of the original 2 lanes, traffic will be reduced to 1 lane.
- Traffic will be kept flowing on the west-north axis on an alternating basis. These half-lane works will keep traffic moving in the neighbourhood.
July: installation of the fibre
- Throughout July, site teams will be laying the fibre optic cable.
- New traffic light masts will be installed at the junction.
- Continuity of traffic flow will not be affected by these changes in July.
???? The light-signalling equipment is due to come into service on 1 August at the latest.
