Alzheimer's disease at the heart of public life
By the end of 2021, Neuilly-sur-Marne will have become the first "Alzheimer's Helping Town" in the Seine-Saint-Denis department. The town has shown its commitment by setting up a partnership with the association France Alzheimer.
This involves signing up to the "Ville Aidante Alzheimer" charter and promote greater inclusion of people with this disease or a related illness in the public arena. It's true that people who are ill sometimes give up leaving their homes, going to a leisure club or even doing their shopping, because they can't find their place in a society that still doesn't welcome them with understanding.
Free training courses and memory cafés
Through this partnership, the town and the Centre Communal d'Action Sociale (CCAS) aim to facilitate access to the information and initiatives proposed by the association to help families better understand the consequences of the disease. Guidance, inclusiveness and awareness-raising are the three main thrusts of this partnership.
That's why France Alzheimer is offering the people of Nocé a free training 15 hours for family carers. This is the first of many support initiatives to be put in place. In addition memory cafés will be organised, during which specialists will be on hand to listen, inform and advise those who wish to do so, so that they can go through the various stages of the disease as calmly as possible. Other initiatives will also be organised, such as discussion groups, telephone support and social outings. In this way, Neuilly-sur-Marne is committed to helping sufferers and their carers to continue to enjoy life and their town.
